UNHCR has received reports of another scam targeting Afghan nationals. In addition to the scam on resettlement to the Netherlands via a Special Humanitarian Visa, there are organizations in Kabul (Afghanistan) claiming that Afghans can apply for a humanitarian visa program which would allow UNHCR to bring the applicants from Kabul to Malaysia, before relocating them to Canada or Germany.
This is a scam. These individuals are not connected to UNHCR and have no authority or ability to relocate anyone. Do not share your personal information with them or pay them any money.
If you come across suspicious messages or individuals claiming to be able to provide resettlement for a fee or for any other services, report this to:
- The police at the nearest police station or the CCID Scam Response Centre at 03-26101559 (8am – 8pm)
- UNHCR using this form
IMPORTANT: All UNHCR services are free. Do not trust any person or organization asking you to pay for services and assistance provided by UNHCR, including for resettlement
Your UNHCR card will not be cancelled and your case will not be delayed or closed if you report suspicious activities to UNHCR.
