UNHCR has received reports that a man who goes by Rahaman / Soe Myint / Mirza Ali is selling fake UNHCR documents outside of UNHCR premises.
This is a scam. UNHCR documents are only issued at the UNHCR Office upon registration and are free of charge. If anyone asks you to pay for a UNHCR document, it is a fake document.
Please remember:
- UNHCR will never ask you for money.
- No one can obtain UNHCR documents, facilitate access to UNHCR processes, or fast‑track your case in exchange for payment.
- Do not pay money to anyone offering such services.
- Do not share your personal information with individuals claiming they can influence your UNHCR case.
If you know of anyone using, producing, or selling fake UNHCR cards or UNHCR cards belonging to somebody else, please report it via email to mlslufrd@unhcr.org. Reporting on fraud will not delay your case with UNHCR or lead to you being investigated for fraud. All reports on fraud received by UNHCR are kept confidential and are not disclosed to anyone else without your consent.
