UNHCR Arrest and Detention Hotline: Change in Operating Hours

Monday / 21 July 2025

Please be informed that starting 21 July 2025 there has been a change in the operating hours of the UNHCR Arrest and Detention Hotline (012-630 5060). The line is strictly for reporting the arrest and detention of refugees and asylum-seekers during the following times:

Weekdays – Monday to Friday: 2PM to 6PM

Weekend – Saturday and Sunday (including UN public holidays): 8AM to 4PM

Reports on arrest and detention can also be made through the Contact Form on the Refugee Malaysia website.

The Legal Protection Unit will monitor all arrest reports made through the detention hotline and the Refugee Malaysia website. UNHCR will do the necessary intervention with the relevant law enforcement agency as soon as possible, in order to prevent refugees and asylum-seekers who have been arrested under the Immigration Act from further detention and/or prosecution.

Please refer to the Refugee Malaysia website for information on Legal Protection, Registration, Refugee Status Determination (RSD), Resettlement, etc.
